Summary of First Month of Whole 30
On February 15, 2017 I finished my first round of Whole 30. Never in my life have I committed to something like this and FINISHED! Holy moly, I felt like a million bucks. Not just because I felt healthy, but I was so proud of myself and my determination. Honestly, it was easier than I had imagined and after week one, it just gets easier and easier.
Week 1: not the greatest. Cravings, shakes, headaches, body aches, and EXHAUSTION! One morning I was so tired and weak, I felt exhaustion in my bones! It literally took calories to lift my head up.
Week 2: Man, I am starting to feel good. Getting on the scale is a big no-no, but I am a rebel, so there ya go. Pounds melting off the body. Energy is back. Making crazy dinners is super exciting. Whole 30 Orange Chicken met a craving deep down in my soul that I didn’t know was hiding.
Week 3: life is busy and meal-planning is a must to keep going without slip-up. The instant pot became the saving grace to dinner. Get this: you can make RIBS (that taste amazing in 35 mins or less)! 30 minutes in the instant pot; 5 minutes in the broiler with compliant homemade BBQ sauce on top. #heaven #mouthwatering (speaking of which, I am making #heavenribs tonight!)
Week 4: rounding home! Starting to get really, really exited about red wine! Valentine’s Day is the day after day 30 and mama bear will be drinking a bottle of wine. Not a glass, a bottle. Whole 30 is becoming a way of life and really can’t see myself going back to eating grains and dairy on a regular basis. (Is this really me?)
Fast Forward: now as I type, I am on Round 2/Day 8. 17lbs lost, inches galore, wearing 1 shirt size smaller and 1 pant size smaller! And even more important that the outward achievements thus far, I FEEL GOOD! Energy is up. Way less bloat. Headaches are nowhere to be found. Improvement on chronic hives when my body heats up. Teeth-grinding at night seems to have stopped.
