When Mama Feels Pretty, the Day goes by Smoother and Mama is Happier!
When Mama feels pretty, life seems easier. Mom life is a hard life. It’s an amazing life, don’t get my wrong, but dang it takes an emotional, physical, MENTAL toll. Whew, these kiddos can suck the life out of you! And then breathe it right back in with one simple hug, kiss or “I lub you”. I joke about my middle son being my sour-patch kid because he will stab you and watch you bleed and then quickly go get the gauze and apply pressure to save your life. Extreme analogy, sure, but dang it, it’s so true. By the time by husband gets home in the evening, I want to collapse on the couch and cry a little, just for fun, and drink a gallon of red wine. (And not the cheap stuff, folks!)
At the end of last year, shortly after having my 3rd and FINAL child (all boys), I was going through such a frumpy stage, otherwise known as mom life. I was mad at the world for my messy, frizzy mom-bun, raggity dirty gym clothes (and no, I didn’t just get home from the gym), and the fact that I never got dressed up or felt pretty.
This crazy stuff that lasts all day with one application. And guess what happened? I FELT PRETTY! I still had one dirty gym clothes (nope, still wasn’t going to the gym), still had my frizzy mom-bun, but damnit, my lips were on point and I felt hot! I would wear blu-red just to vacuum, purple reign specifically for diaper-changing (ha–that’s not true, but can you imagine putting on a bright lip stick color just for fun before changing a diaper?), and pink champagne to feel girly, sexy and maybe even a little sultry.
How in the world can three swipes of a lip stick color make me feel so good? Who cares! It did! And when mama feels pretty, the day goes by so much more smoother. This may make me sound little a certifiable mental patient, but if you are deep in the midst of mom life, toddler life, infant life, you get me! I just know you do. And because I didn’t have to reapply multiple times a day, it was the PERFECT fit for me and my current kid-life situation.
A few months later…
My baby is almost 1. (Took his first 4 independent steps yesterday!) Although, I could “milk” the frumpy mom stage for all it’s worth, I just don’t want to! I want to be out of frumpy mom stage and I can to look pretty; feel pretty! I wear my LipSense every single day and because I feel so pretty with colored lips, I even take the time to do my hair and full make-up every once in a while. If all it takes is a little pigment and 5 minutes of my time to feel beautiful, take all my money and give me all the tubes of LipSense! Ya feel me?
