New Year, New You! 2017 word of the year: Abundance!
2017: Abundance. 2016 was an amazing year! The Beaumont Nuttall family welcomed our third and final boy, Caleb James in August. Older brothers, Billy and Aidan, turned four and two and my husband and I celebrated six years of marriage. It was a year filled with garbage trucks, Thomas the Train railroad tracks all over the living room, and our first set of stitches. My mom purchased a home two miles away and our good friends moved into a home five houses down the street from us. It was a great year, but I have high hopes for 2017 and what’s to come!

In the past few days I have heard so much chit-chat about the finding a word for 2017. Many people are praying, thinking, meditating on what word best describes their hopes, dreams, ambitions for the upcoming year. I like this idea more than a new year’s resolution because there can be so much more opportunity out of a word and the variety of outcomes associated with that word versus one single resolution.
This morning I was organizing my Origami Owl inventory (ok, that is not true at all; there was zero organizing happening, more like sifting through) and I came across a limited edition CORE collection item that was super popular in the Fall 2016 Take Out Menu. The item was our rose gold rose memento. The meaning behind this item was abundance, an overwhelming or large amount of something. And it clicked, abundance is MY 2017 word for the year!
I want an abundance of time with my kiddos. Mama bear cannot stand that my babies are growing up so quickly and I want to cherish the moments with them, even those moments were I genuinely feel like I cannot mommy anymore. I want an abundance of date nights with my husband. We will be married 7 years in June 2017 and together 10 years in October. I want an abundance of romance, holding hands, and sweet kisses that make my 5-year-old cringe. (I always wants to be those parents that kiss in front of the kiddos and they moan and groan because they are grossed out. And all the while knowing I am being a model of what a healthy marriage can look like.) I want an abundance of opportunity with my business and see the growth because that means that others are prospering and finding an abundance of success. I want an abundance of snuggles from my boys and my two furbabies. And if I am completely honest, I want an abundance of Netflix marathons on cozy, rainy days. (Maybe I have forgotten I live in California, southern California at that, and we don’t have an abundance of rain, ever!)
In the social nature of Facebook, I shared my 2017 word and asked others to chime in and share their word. The responses were so rich and powerful and reminds me how positive social media can be and how we can use the platform to share hopes, goals, and dreams and truly build stronger interpersonal relationships (but that is another topic for another blog post). Some of the responses were: discipline, release, hope, thrive, and fortitude. Imagine what an amazing and fruitful year we can have if we stay true to following after our 2017 word.
